Is this sunburn or underwatering? or maybe a bit of both?

i follow wild fern on instagram & youtube & she recently talked about her variegated raffie & said that she gets random browning too! specifically on the light parts. she canât figure out what the issue is & suspects itâs just a thing with these cultivars.

Any plants with white on their leaves will eventually go brown due to lack of Chlorophyll which they need for photosynthesis.
2 gillningarItâs normal for highly variegated leaves to die off quicker. Adding silica can help postpone it. I like to sprinkle diatomaceous earth on the soil surface to combat pests and it adds silica when you water. Or there are specific silica fertilizers. Balanced fertilizing will also help your plant produce leaves that arenât fully variegated or âhalf moonsâ they might look cool but they arenât ideal/beneficial to the overall health of the plant.
2 gillningarcool i didnât know about adding silica, thanks!
