Hello, I have this Tradescantia (Spiderwort) plant that just always seems to look shriveled and dying/crusty leaves forming. Iâm not sure if Iâm overwatering or under watering it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you getting any water on the leaves? Mine looked like that if the leaves got wetđ apparently they donât like that
1 gillaIâve heard those are difficult but those are on my wishlist.
1 gillaMy first thought is drainage. Does the pot have drainage holes? If not, that could be your problem. Iâm guessing her feet are staying wet. đ«€. They definitely donât like to be overwatered.
2 gillningarIt could be several issues including overwatering, inconsistent watering and slow drying soil. Iâm guessing itâs overwatering based on the look of some leaves. I recommend removing the rocks off the soil since they slow the soil the drying leading to root rot. Change out the soil and check for root rot. Tradescantia has threadlike veins that can rot while sitting in soggy soil. Remove all root rot. Trim the dead parts of the plant. Downsize the pot, if needed. Excess soil takes longer to dry out since the root system canât use up all the water fast enough. This also leads to root rot. đȘŽđ
2 gillningarI agree with the comment from sunny and add to replace its home with a terracotta pot. They absorb water so I tend to use them with any plants like this that are more susceptible to root rot and need better water regulation. đ
