Some of indoor plants have tiny bugs that fly, but like to stay on the surface of the dirt, does anybody know what these are or how I can treat them? I couldn’t get a photo. They are very small

Fungus gnats
3 likesGet some neem oil and spray your plant and soil really good, if not the best scenario if that doesn’t work then you need to repot plant in fresh soil because gnats can lay eggs in that soil
2 likesI’ve had really good luck with Bonide Systemic Houseplant Insect Control combined with the yellow sticky traps that go in the dirt.
1 likeYou mix the Bonide into the top layer of dirt and water in to kill the eggs that are under the soil
1 likeI have had good luck with making a tea with mosquito bits and using it to water the plants. Also get some sticky yellow traps to catch the adult gnats.
2 likesCheck for root rot and molds. And check any food fruit if you keep it (they often find apples that are starting to decay before you do)
1 likeIn addition to the other suggestions, you can try bottom watering.
1 likeI live in MN and we get a lot of gnats that find their way into the house through the window screens. I bought these sticky traps years ago and find them a must with indoor plants. Really inexpensive on Amazon. I slide them into the plants to dirt level and it catches any of the ones that may decide to make the dirt their new home. I have cats so try to stay away from insecticides. Hope this helps!
