Something is chewing the leaf in layers. This could be a one time thing, isolated case. Thrips and spider mites can cause that damage: - Check for fine webbing between the leaves and stems. Spider mites will put out a lot of webbing on the tender leaves. - Thrips can be small. Check for anything with legs with a magnifying glass. Check under all leaves. 🍀🪴

1 LikeAh i realized I had thrips when I saw similar damage—I had to go straight for an insecticide to get rid of them unfortunately~ the brand Safer’s End-All spray helped so much!

1 LikeI’d spray them really well with Captain Jack’s Dead Bug spray and then apply Bonide insecticide systemic granules. Might need to repeat once or twice.

my monkey mask had these same marks - turns out i had thrips! look for small black dots on the leaves too which can also indicate thrips. i cut off all the damaged leaves and washed it regularly while also covering it in repellent. id try and find a living thrip before taking any drastic measures though!
2 LikesYes. It came infected im assuming. I’ve actually seen one black one and the marks are getting progressively worse. Just ordered in some spray. What did you wash your plant with?

my kitchen sink has a small hose instalment thing so i just used lukewarm water to wash the leaves off every few days for about two weeks ish; when it dried i would spray it with the repellent (remember to get the surface of the soil too). be careful you dont overwater, try and just wash the leaves off, its an easy way to get rid of bugs. thrips can lay eggs in the leaves which is why i cut off the damaged ones, its also why they seem to come back after a while when you thought they were cured. just keep an eye on it and do a treatment cycle (cut damage, rinse, spray, every three/four-ish days dependent on what spray you bought) and keep it isolated so they dont spread :)
