hi! so for some reason my lovely stromanthe has been acting up. i know these plants are a little sensitive and dramatic but i’ve always watered her properly, misted her, given her enough light. as of yesterday (see first pic) she is now more droopy and nothing else really changed in her routine. also, the second pic is just from 18 days ago. the only thing i can think of is cold stress- although she’s literally been near the same window for 5 months so i’m unsure why the cold is affecting her now. anyways, any tips to help revive her or ideas if it could be cold stress or something else. also! where should i cut to try and propagate in case i can’t save the whole plant? thanks!šŸ¤šŸ¤

I’m pretty sure stromanthe can only be propagated by division which isn’t an ideal situation when your plant is already struggling.

looks like your plant hasn’t been getting enough light. the stems are quite stretched. in proper lighting stromanthe ā€˜triostar’ will grow leaves with a variety of colors besides the dark green, some lighter greens, pink, white, and cream colors. based on the yellowing tips either the soil is staying wet too long (likely due to it being in low light) or you’re watering too often. i’m curious what kind of water you’re using for this plant? the crispy yellow/brown leaf tips indicate chlorine sensitivity or really dry air

Definitely not getting enough light, the leaves have reverted to all green. They usually have cream and pink variegation. The edges turning brown suggest it’s not getting enough humidity either. Misting won’t actually increase humidity for long, I suggest using a pebble tray or humidifier.

update! after increasing temps in my apartment and giving her more humidity she perked up back to the first pic. i could be watering it too often and maybe that caused yellow tips- i think half of the plant has small yellow tips. i follow the planta app to water it. i have seen the plant get leggy if i water it too soon? even though i’m following the app. should i let it dry out completely and then water it? i do use filtered water only. even my mist spray is filtered water. do we think it’s still maybe a light issue if it was fixed with temps and humidity? also, i think this plant is a stromanthe sanguinea. it’s always been green since i got it & never had the variations like triostar.
