How the heck did this thing get mealybugs when it wasn't near any other plant and it's been in the same spot for two years?

any chance you have it in the kitchen near groceries? bananas and other produce can bring them in 😬

No. It was in my front window away from all the other plants thank God. I can't figure it out. I just cleaned the whole thing off with alcohol and now I'm going to treat the soil with hydrogen peroxide. I have had that plants since it was 2 inches long. Not one I want to lose. It's going in quarantine. Then I need to go check all the others. What a mess!

An infestation this massive takes time — keep your eyes on it!! 😬 good luck!! 💚

It was literally less than a week ago that I turned it in the window and didn't see a thing! That is crazy! I had a couple of plants near it and I couldn't tell if the little white spots were little bits of perlite or mealy bugs so I treated them all and quarantined.

It could’ve come from outdoor plants near your front window, especially if there’s cracks or old seals around the windows. My outdoor patio flowers got a spider mite infestation because there was a bush about two feet nearby that was covered in them first

Seriously? They are really old single pane windows and there's a lot of foliage right outside.

Yep that’s probably what happened, with my morning walks around my neighborhood I see some plants and trees here and there with mealybug looking things and spider mites

Unfortunately, pests are so tiny and mobile that we can literally walk outside, walk by our plants, and the pests can move from our clothes to the plants

True too, a YouTuber I watch thinks her dog brings them in too since he loves to go bounding through the brush on walks lol
