What do you do when your plants keep attracting many different random pests? A bunch of mine had aphid’s and now a couple have spider mites. How do I ensure the rest of mine don’t have any, and how do I (try to) permanently prevent pests?

I find pests are inevitable at some point, any new plants I keep away from my collection and do a cautionary pest treatment when I bring a plant home 🙂 spidermites dislike humidity, aphids I recently had and successfully treated using SB plant invigorator, you dilute the solution in water/spray bottle and thoroughly spray the infected leaves/area, I do this once a week until they are gone 🙂 you could also do a routinely/weekly or fortnightly pest treatment on your plants as a preventative measure 💚 spacing plants apart will help prevent pests from spreading from one plant to the next too. I occasionally shower mine if pests are suspected, then treat them and isolate them for a while 😊

Unfortunately if you have plants you'll get pests. My main thing is to treat any plant when I first get it, quarantee for several weeks. And then treat everything regularly. I use both pesticides and beneficial nematodes and predatory mites/bugs. They are also game changer for a large collection. You just have to be careful with what pesticides you use. And re innoculating them. Humidity can be a big factor too. Especially with spider mites. They pop up a lot in winter because it's often dry and heaters are running

Quarantine new plants for a while to make sure they don't have any. Its also possible that they could be from your soil, some brands like miracle grow would be worse than others. I am currently dealing with spider mites, and I've been using g a mixture of three parts water one part alcohol and a few drops of dawn. I've also used it on mealy bugs before. I would also recommend showers every now and then as a preventive measure. And I've read that watering with one part hydrogen peroxide three parts water can kill any in the soil.

systemic granules! it makes the plant toxic to pests! you have to refresh it every two months i believe. life saver. i had to toss an entire collection due to spider mites.

I’ll sometimes mix neem oil in the water of my humidifiers

It’s in my greenhouse cabinet so I don’t smell it, but you’re right, neem oil does smell lolol it’s always surprising when I’m spraying it and I’m abruptly reminded of that lol

Predatory mites. I haven’t had an issue since I started using them. I used to get spider mites every summer.
