help! my chinese money plant is STRUGGLING. she is very wobbly snd she had around ten leaves when i got her and she's down to 5. no new growth except for the little leaf that was there when i got it. she's in indirect light, chunky soil which kind of drains fast now that i'm thinking about it, and i water according to the app. i know the app is more of a reminder but honestly i have no idea how often to water her. i checked on the roots and they are probably the smallest, shortest, and thinnest known to man. any tips are greatly appreciated!

Peperomia have very shallow tiny roots. I accidentally killed two when I repotted them. I would maybe suggest a water meter. They are less than $10 on Amazon.

thank you! i wasn't sure if the tiny root thing was normal, the root ball is like the size of a nickel 🫣. i'll look into the water meter!

I had a gorgeous string of turtles that was too dense for its pot. The roots were almost non existent to the eye. I repotted it and a few weeks later realized it was slowly dying because no roots were actually in the soil. RIP

Chinese money plants need lots of light. Morning sun would be great. So maybe more light would help. Gradually introduce it. Money plant is a Pilea. Raindrop is a peperomia. They look very similar. But I think their care is very similar. I also think think the Pilea has a similar name to peperomia which makes it confusing. I need to look it up.

Have you repot it? It looks like the pot is small. Have you fertilized? I wonder if you need to size up and give it really good well draining, aroid potting mix and give it some good fertilizer. I agree about lighting, I have my money tree is in an east facing window that gets really good morning light.

I would suggest a small shallow terracotta pot until it starts thriving. Get it out of the plastic nursery pot and deco pot. Use succulent soil and fill the pot closer to the top. Check for dryness by weight or finger. Too small for proper reading on a meter. Don’t let it sit in a saucer of water. That’s all I got. Minor changes but may get it growing again.
