Hi everyone, need help with my white gardenia. She’s placed in 6+ hrs sun, receives good water amounts everyday, and continues to grow new small leaves. She’s also getting supplements once a week. She’s also losing more leaves than what she grows and is just sticks. Blooming season in my area seems to be around March, now i’m concerned she’s not going to recuperate before then Any help and guidance is appreciated 🙂

Watering everyday is likely too much especially for a pot that big in a standard potting mix. That pot should be able to hold water 5-7 days before drying out. I’m assuming overwatering is killing the roots and causing the leaves to turn yellow and black. I assuming you’re in zone 10 or higher based on the coral garden pavers. Check the roots for rot and remove, if any. Disinfect the roots with hydrogen peroxide. Disinfect tools and hands to prevent spreading bacterial/fungal infections. Clean and disinfect the pot before replacing the soil. Cut off the dead and dying bits. I would trim it back to the rim in February when new growth starts to form. This should help it get fuller. Fertilize with diluted fertilizer more often rather than using full strength to avoid fertilizer burn.🪴🍀

Thank you Sunny! That helps a lot. I’m in zone 10, we do get a lot of rain often. Should i use a specific soil or a different pot that drains better? This is the first time i have gardenias and im still learning

I would use a mix for potted plants and add per 1/4 large diameter perlite per volume of soil. I would mix in about 1 inch deep of compost or manure for organic nutrients. I would wrap and clip a plastic trash bag over the soil to block rainwater if it rains more than three days in a row. Immediately remove the plastic after the rain stops to let the water evaporate.
