Help needed! I brought her home from a walmart quite a few weeks ago, repotted her to check her roots and have been keeping her in the living room. She seems to have only been declining as of late and im not really sure what to do for her, she doesnt bloom anymore and most pf the mature leaves have yellowed. any help and advice is appreciated.

Is her pot too large? is tap water bad for her? the water is very hard where we live and im worried maybe the minerals in it are negatively affecting her. she isnt in direct sunlight and is beside the living room window for indirect light.

I think they need more hours of sunlight to flower and I don’t like to look of that black spot on one of her green leaves (possibility of fungus???) but I defer to someone with more experience with peace lilies. I do know they can be sensitive to harsh chemicals like chlorine and don’t like too much lime in water, so I got plant water conditioner that neutralizes harsh chemicals and buffers the pH to slightly acidic

I think definitely get rid of the leaves that are more yellow than green. Verify that it isn’t fungus (if it is, you need to get rid of the infected leaves and wash her to prevent spreading, but that’s a drastic measure and shouldn’t be done unless you’re sure). Don’t remove more than a third of her foliage

Pot may be too big. The pot should be 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball. And if you repotted it right after you got it it’s most likely in shock as well. Trim off the dead and yellow leaves and give her more light

it wasnt right after bringing her home, it was about a week or so id say, but it was only because the roots seemed so tight knit together i thought it needed it :( so you think i should trim every leaf with yellow or brown spots?

I would personally trim them off. And i honestly wait a long time to repot plants when i get them. I want minimum of a month to make sure the plant is fully adapted to its new environment. But it’s kinda like a guessing game especially if it’s a bad root bound. The distressing could still be from repot shock. So just try and give her lots of light and love and patience!

do you think i should try to put her back into her old smaller pot she came in any time soon? or just leave as is and see of she improves

I would put it back into the a smaller pot. 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball. When you move it back try not to mess with the roots too much unless you see or smell rot. And make sure it’s in a chunky soil so she gets air to the roots!

Only water with distiller water, filtered, or rain water - they are very sensitive to tap water and will start yellowing; if it’s been watered with tap ‘flush’ the tap water out on your next watering. Cut off the yellow/brown leaves. They like more humid environments - you can add a pebble tray underneath. Also, wipe the leaves carefully with a damp cloth or clean sponge.
