hi planty friends! I recently repotted my heartleaf philodendron (Phalange) and she has not been doing great since. she’s had a lot of yellow leaves that I’ve been removing and I’ve noticed a lot of her leaves seem weaker and are curling. all of her new leaves have also been dramatically smaller, and I just noticed a tear in one of her leaves as well :( I’ve checked for pests and have been treating for them as well as a preventative, but I haven’t seen any buggies anywhere. does anyone have any idea what could be going on with her or any tips on how to get her thriving again? thanks so much!

This happened to my rubber plant after I repotted it as well. Turns out the soil was hydrophobic (repelling water). If you dig deeper into the soil and there’s still dry soil no matter how much you water it then you have that problem. My rubber plant wasn’t getting enough water because the soil underneath wasn’t getting wet. Just submerged it underwater for like 30min and it should fix and the next day your plant should be fine, if hydrophobic soil is the problem.

Repotting can cause stress on the plants from digging up the roots. Roots loosen or break which interrupts the water flow to the leaves and vines. The fine hairy root fuzz has to grow back when all or part of the soil is replaced. The hairy roots are very efficient when pulling moisture from the soil. It takes time for the plant to recover. Leaves and vines can yellow. 🪴🍀

It could also be a low humidity issue as well. Check the humidity levels around the plant.
