My Aloe Vera is starting to brown/yellow. I assumed it was because i watered it with tap water, and we have a lot of lime in the water where i live - i am now watering all plants with rain water from a butt. I have also done a diagnosis on the app and it has come up with âwatering imbalanceâ. I am due to water in a couple of days, but the soil is dry. Any tips? Is this correct? Should i trim the leaves?

It might be a case of too much sunlight and not enough water

I just cut mine and hope for the best. Also i was doing to much sun and not enough waterings

No need to cut those leaves. Worst case, it will use the nutrients and water in those leaves if it needs it. It will probably just leave them like that though unless there is an ongoing issue. Are the roots about as big as the pot? As long as they are and itâs in succulent soil then it shouldnât be oover watered unless you are watering too often. I have heard aloe will get floppy if it has too much or too little water. (Havenât experienced this myself as mine is outside and mostly out of rain so it tends to lean towards underwatered) But I think the sucked in tips mean itâs using its stored water. My guess would be that you should water it. Make sure the water isnât just running straight off. If it is, it might be hydrophobic. Which would definitely explain the underwatering. But if itâs taking a few seconds to run through the soil before it runs out, and you can see that the dirt is absorbing water, then watering it until the water runs out the bottom a few times and then letting it drain should help. You donât have a problem with the dirt staying wet all the time, correct? I live in TX and have hard water but my aloe doesnât care, so I assume itâs not the tap water. Did you get the plant 7 days ago, or add it to planta 7 days ago? Have you ever repotted it? That will help me narrow a few more things. 4 gillningar Thanks for your advice! I have never repotted, i only bought it a couple of weeks ago! Iâve now moved it from the top shelf to underneath - still gets light! I have also water this morning and let the water drain out of the holes, it was very dry. Itâs kept in a conservatory/lean to you see - almost like a green house. It gets hot and humid in there when the sun is out - still working out if this is the best place for my plants in the summer
