I just noticed my alocasia’s new leaf is turning yellow. I’m not sure whether it’s root rot, nutrient deficient, and/or low humidity. The tiny leaf is the newest, it hadn’t unfurled yet at the nursery. Any help is appreciated for a novice like me! Care: - Purchased and repotted over a month ago - Water every ~7 days - Feed every 14 days - Bright indirect light

Yep. It hadn’t unfurled until after I got it from the nursery

hmm…maybe it just didn’t survive transition from nursery to your home. no signs of stress on any of the other leaves?

I noticed yesterday that the tip of one larger leaf is brown. Otherwise, there’s no other sign

I don’t actually think that’s the newest leaf, alocasia don’t put out new leaves like that. I think that the reason why it’s dying is because it’s actually one of the first leaves. Which is perfectly normal especially for alocasia. Let the soil dry a bit more before you water next and try and be more aware of the dampness before you water

It’s a leaf that hadn’t unfurled at the nursery until after I brought it home. The larger leaves were already established too. Is it possible it never unfurled before the other ones? 😵‍💫

yeah it for sure seems really weird that it didn’t unfurl — but the size and location says oldest leaf, which is why i asked to begin with. this is a weird one though! if you’re sure it’s getting enough light — if that’s the window it’s in, i think that frosted effect filters more light than you might think — all i can say is to check the roots to make another assumption (lol )that seems like maybe it’s a bathroom window — sometimes keeping a plant in the bathroom can cause more harm than good for finicky plants like alocasia. the rapid temperature changes can make some funky stuff happen

Now that you mention the leaf location, it would make sense it’s the oldest! I never thought about that Good to know — I thought the humidity would help but the inconsistent environment makes sense!
