Planty B

Hello all, I got a Cordyline Harlequin from a big box store, and about a week in I realized it had been overwatered and was still sitting in a pool of water beneath the nursery pot. I let the soil completely dry before watering again, but many of the leafs have small brown spots. Is this a result of being overwatered? Should I remove the spotted leaves or treat the plant with anything? Will it survive?? 🥺

slide it out of the pot and check the roots for rot! trim off any mushy, dead roots and spray down with hydrogen peroxide (1:1, water:peroxide). any damaged leaves will not turn green again - feel free to remove any with lots of damage :) im not too familiar with this plant, but i think a chunky, well draining tropical soil will do well! and for future ref, take the plant out of the cache pot and let it drain before replacing it! hope this helps!!

It could also be sunburn. Perhaps it was in too hot of a spot at the store. Or perhaps it was top watered while the Sun was shining.

This looks more fungal to me which usually results from a watering issue. I would follow c.cat’s advice as I do the same.

It sure could be a fungal problem. In addition to checking the roots you would need to remove the affected leaves and treat with a fungicide.
