Hey plant people, I have some questions I’m hoping someone may give some insight on? I bought this pictured pink princess from a little boutique around Mother’s Day this year. It was in the “second chance” area, meaning it had almost died but they were able to revive it enough for hope lol the first picture is the day I bought it, the last 2 are from today. There hasn’t been much change except a couple new leaves at the top. Another one is about to open up so I’m hopeful! But part of me is worried there is too much distance between the roots and the top and it may be having a hard time getting enough nutrients to thrive. Any advice? Please and thank you!

I had a white knight, which is very similar. It had become a little etoliated. I cut it down. The top is doing well. The bottom part had to put out all new leaves but is slowly coming along. I also tried propping mid stem but was unsuccessful. So I think you could try this option. I’m not a horticulturist but my assumption is that your entire plant is getting nourished. But I think a fresh start would eventually give you a much more attractive plant. I must tell you the process took several months. I think I did the cutting last spring.

I agree with Phil. I'm also not an expert, I do this as a hobby and learn along the way. I had the same issue with my pink princess. Decided to chop her into several pieces and propagated in spaghnum/perlite mix. I propagated the main stem in water, Ended up with 3 new plants, and the mother plant is finally filling in nicely. It is a process and takes some time, but we'll worth it. If you decide to go that route, I recommend to let the cuttings callous over as they do bleed or seal the stem with candle wax.
