Just like how to maintain the plants from not yellowing and getting them to grow

Welcome to the hobby, happy to help! Yellowing can be the result of a couple things, either overwatering or just dropping old leaves. Best method to check what’s going on below is to gently remove from the pot snd check the root health. Healthy roots are white and firm. I like to use chopsticks to check soil moisture before watering, allow at least the top 2” to dry out before watering. You’ll learn that some can go longer than you expect between waterings!

Using chopsticks like Whit suggested, is a great idea! Just to add to that, be sure to push your wooden stake, or chopstick, down to the bottom of the pot, and let it remain for 10 to 15 minutes, longer is even better. When you remove the stick, there should be no obvious wet dirt on it, except maybe some small granules that are fairly dry. If there’s any wet soil, and the stick looks dirty, then don’t water. Recheck again in another two days using the same method. I use this method on many of my plants, especially my pothos, and philodendrons, among others. Any questions, just ask, and we’ll be happy to give you an answer. Glad to have you in the fold, and best of luck!
