I’m new to roses and I think that I have slugs in my hostas in my front beds. Will slugs go after roses too or are the holes in the leaves from something else?

Looks like aphids to me. There’s a lot of different ways to deter them. They have a few guides on the app, but if you can’t find them by scrolling in the search section, just try looking up how to treat aphids or pests on roses. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much! It seemed weird that it would be slugs.

You might have slugs but I don’t think they would cause this issue. Once you get rid of the root cause which is possibly aphids. Give it a rose bush fertilizer of some sort and the roses can actually repair the holes in the leaves over time

It can be rose slugs, several species of sawfly larvae, that chew holes through the leaves from underneath. They are very small compared to the typical slug or caterpillar measuring 1/8” to 3/4” long. Search online for organic pesticides that treat these larvae.
