I was told to leave them in water for longer but they’re turning black, and some aren’t even growing. What’s going on? Is it root rot but how else am I supposed to do this?

Scindapsus can take a long time to root. As long as the stems aren’t mushy and there are white roots I wouldn’t worry about some parts of them being darker. When you see smaller roots growing from the bigger roots (secondary roots), they’re ready to pot up safely.
3 Mi piaceblack roots are ok and they take awhile to propagate. just remember to change the water weekly
1 mi piaceYou should be good. I’ve had one in water for probably two months. It had one long primary root but I’m still waiting on secondary to develop.
