hi friends! i have recently repotted my monstera due to a massive fungus takeover in the soil and i’m worried the current soil it’s in is too dense for it now because i continue checking the moisture in the soil and it has not made much of a change since repotting. is it a bad idea to repot again with a new chunkier mix or will it throw the plant into shock? its been in the soil for about 2 weeks and ive only watered once since and i’m worried the soil is clogged at the bottom. tyia!

I’d change out the soil to avoid suffocating the roots. Especially if this is an excessively lengthy timeframe. Although, I often water my M. T.C. In chunky soil around 8-10 days. I have high ambient humidity of about 65-70% though. My M. Albo is in chunky w/more dense soil and is about the same. Monstera are prone to root rot. Good luck.

thank you so much!! is it a good idea to give it a good watering or should i just set the soil in? i’m also worried that i may be overwatering her due to her leaves being droopy and a little yellow around one of my leaves

I’ve been adding orchid bark and perlite to my soil to make it not so dense and to help with drainage. Seems to be doing good but every plant is different!!

I add in some chunky horticultural charcoal to my soil mix as well!

Horticultural charcoal benefits most plants it acts like a nutritional component and helps protect against disease. “Biochar helps allow better uptake of nutrients and fertilizers added to the soil for larger plants and greater yields of fruits, vegetables and blooms on plants.”
