HELP!!! My friends ivy is slowly getting worse and we are not sure as to why. It has started yellowing and having leaves fall off at a rapid pace. She is watered every 12 days from top watering and she is in a terracotta pot she was repotted about 3 months ago as she was root bound. I used indoor plant fertilizer on her today as she has never been fertilized.

How much larger of a pot did you choose when you repotted? If they’re not already I’d highly suggest the chopstick method before watering. Just stick a wooden skewer in the pot gently and wait a few moments. If it comes out dry you know you’re good to water. Pothos don’t mind drying out a bit so it’s better to wait a few extra days before watering, just to make sure the roots aren’t being over saturated. The window could be an issue if it’s drafty but I don’t really think that’s what’s happening.

It is two sizes bigger. They are not doing that they are currently just sticking their finger in the soil and check to see if it’s wet or not I will definitely recommend doing that watering method!

Terra cottage holds a lot of moisture. If I switch something to it, I often have to water less. It can be a bit deceiving.

Sorry but I disagree. Terracotta leaches water out. It requires more frequent watering, because it is porous.

I haven't found that to be true in my space. Which has a high humidity. Every succ or cactus I've had in terra cotta starts to rot. I only keep super water loving plants in them. And it's a switch from plastic or ceramic i hold off watering for a bit after the initial change

The yellow looks like it could have been exposed to a temperature drop or temperature fluctuations to cause leaves to wilt and suddenly fall. Another possibility is overwatering which can turn leaves yellow and floppy. Kades recommendations above apply. A third possibility is a chemical reaction to fertilizer, minerals in the water or insecticides. The last thing I can think of is changes in lighting. Was the plant moved to a new location or has the change in season changed the amount/intensity of the sunlight it was getting? A grow light can help. 🍀đŸȘŽ

Thank you! We are in Oklahoma so the season did just change and it has gotten alot cooler out here. It has always been placed in this north east window!
