Is it safe to spray a plant very heavily with alcohol, like completely douse it? One of my moms plants has mealy bugs and she's about ready to give up.

Iād take the plant and dunk it in a solution of rubbing alcohol and water and dish soap, gently agitate it, then take it out and using a cotton swab take off any pesky ones that have stayed on. If this plant goes in direct sunlight Iād give it a shower after this to prevent leaf burn. What kind of plant is it?
1 gillaHow many parts alcohol to how many parts water and dish soap? And is it okay if I just make a spray with it and spray really well, making sure it gets down in all the crevices and taking off any that I see?
1 gillaIād say 1/3 alcohol 1/3 water 1/3 dish soap. Yeah you can if you want to but Iād still recommend a whole plant shower afterward as well
1 gillaOkšš» I did give it a shower yesterday but I pry can again. I'm assuming you'd wait until the leaves are dry to shower it?
1 gillaOh good! Yeah or you can even dry them gently with a towel if you see some more buggers sticking on and want to blast them off
0 gillningarOk thanks a lot for your help!
1 gillaA dieffenbachia, not sure on the exact species. So no it doesn't go in direct sunlight. I will try that, thanks.
1 gillaJust dousing it won't get rid of them. You'll want to either spray them off in a shower. Or get into every crevise with a tip. Scale type bugs have pretty decent cling factor
0 gillningarIt should be fine as long as you donāt put it in the light while itās drying
