My recently transplanted Colocasia Esculenta’s newest leaf was perfectly fine this morning before I left for work. After I got back, I noticed the newest leaf has a split down the center. Before I bought the plant, I read somewhere that strong winds may tear baby leaves. But I can’t find that info anymore so I’m unaware on if that’s the reason. If not, that is why I’m here. Did something else happen to my Colocasia? Or is there a preventative measure I can take? I know it’s Alocasia’s that require staking, but I don’t mind staking it if required. All the surrounding plants are fine. It’s just the tear. Any other info: Watered it today and two days ago. Got surprised by some heavy rain so it got extra watering today. It has 3 leaves so far. Technically only 2 now as I just pruned 1/3 since it was dead.
