Anybody know why my aloe Vera is doing this? I have only had it for a few weeks, I watered it when I got it, and haven’t watered it since. Google says it’s caused by too much moisture! There’s drainage holes in my plant pot SOS help I can’t believe it’s sick so soon 💔

How many drainage holes? Ceramic pots can be hard to drain even with a hole at the bottom

There’s only 1 hole at the bottom do you think I should get a different pot?

I like to keep them in those plastic ones they come in cause they usually have much more drainage and then just take that pot and place it in the ceramic one so you can still enjoy your nice pretty pot

It can still be overwatering in a pot with drainage holes. That soil looks super dense. All of my aloes are in cactus soil with perlite and orchid bark mixed in, and I only water them when I notice the leaves getting thinner.

Thank you so much! I think that must be it, I took it out of its nursery pot and put it into this slightly smaller ceramic one so i think it must not be enjoying it

Overwatering can be a matter of how aerated the soil is as much as it has to do with moisture. Aloe like nice chunky, rocky soil, lots of aeration. Peat moss is really good at being dense and holding tons of water for a long time, but becomes hydrophobic and a dense cake when dry. Coco coir is my preferred peat moss alternative.

Thank you so much! That is such a help I’ll get myself some better soil, I put it into a bigger pot and pot in the photo had too much moisture stuck on the inside still, even tho it looked dry!
