Is anyone able to help me get rid of flies/gnats? They fly all over my house out of the soil from my plants. I thought it was because the soil was too moist, however they are also in the soil of my succulents.

what i do, or suggest is three things: - one is changing the soil and rinsing those roots off, and spraying with a diluted hydrogen peroxide and water mix, you can find this online with more information. Also look into a Hydrogen flush. - two is knat traps, you can find these on amazon. They are sticky yellow shapes you can stick in the plants and the bugs fly right on them and get stuck. Along with these i like to water less, let my plants dry out between watering. - three is that you can look into putting cayenne, cinnamon, onion, or garlic on top of the soil. You can read more online about it. What i always tell people is to treat the soil when you buy it from the store. what i do is put it in a big tote or wheel barrow and treat with a water and hydrogen peroxide mix. This is because a lot of the time soil we buy has gnat eggs that are dormant in it already. Which is good because they eat the fungus in the soil. But not so good once you get inside. I then let the soil evaporate a couple days and add a fertilizer when i repot. Make sure to sanitize the pots. If you have anymore questions let me know!

Yes! Spray the top of your soil regularly with bacillus thuringiensis. I got it from Amazon and my local nurseries have it. Works like a charm

    1. You can try repotting all of your plants 2. First water your plants with equal parts hydrogen peroxide and water until you stop seeing the gnats, then start bottom watering. 4. Try Mosquito Bits

Thank you everyone! One more question- would essential oils in the soil help out?

Get a venus fly trap or some other carnivores. And then get gnat tape rolls. Hang a few around the plants. Dont give full waterings unless your plant is suffering (and you know its from underwatering) So they cant find any wet soil to lay eggs. Worked for me!

typically fungus gnats are from either a soil that’s too dense and doesn’t dry quick enough or habitual overwatering. until you can change the soil i would recommend a hydrogen peroxide flush as it will kill any larvae and eggs in the soil as well as the fungus they’re feeding on
