One of my cissus Ellen Danica plants (oak leaf ivy) has been struggling for some time. I have repotted and given plenty of sun, water and liquid fertiliser – conditions in which my others thrive. This app suggests that common pests include Mealy bugs, thrips or spider mites. Anyone else have this problem?
That looks just like spider mite damage to me although I’m not seeing the mites or webbing. Maybe take a closer look at the underside of leaves and look for very thin webbing.

My Ivy got a spider mite infestation and looked like this under a lot of the leaves. Seems similar to yours. I’m spraying and wiping all the leaves down with a neem oil mixture on a schedule to try to get rid of them all.
Thank you so much for replying! Yeah I have those black specks all over the undersides. So spray with neem oil?
1 mi piace Yeah I’ve been using a neem oil, Castile soap, water, mix you can make that someone posted on here called sexy plant juice or something like that. Then every like 4-5 days you have to spray absolutely everywhere like drench it. If you can manage I’d wipe all the leaves with it first to remove as much as possible. It doesn’t kill the eggs so you have to do it like 4 times at those 4-5 day intervals to try to get the whole cycle of them dead.
1 mi piace People use it as a preventative regularly for their plants also but once you have a problem it’s a bit more intensive of a process
Oh but they can’t be in direct sun or grow lights for a while after or it’ll burn them!
