I found a fairly thick, white fuzzy thing growing out of the bottom of my golden pothos. I’m not sure what it is? To give context, this is a plant that I recently planted in soil after propagating a cutting in water. The cutting was taken from a very old plant that had been neglected for many many years and had signs of mold. The first and second photos are the plant today, and the third photo is the neglected mother plant I took the cuttings from.

It just looks like a regular ol' thirsty root peeking out. ☺️

It’s a root tapping into the water in the drainage saucer. Let the soil fully drain before setting it back in the drainage saucer and remove the standing water from the saucer. 🪴🍀

There’s no water in the cache pot. I watered from the top yesterday. How do I get the root to go back up? 😆

No need to put it back in. You can try pulling off the pot and tucking it inside the pot. It will likely come back out again. Just ignore it or cut it off. No harm.

I guess I was just surprised to see such a fuzzy root. And soooo soon after planting the water propagation in soil. Thanks for the responses! I guess I had nothing to worry about 😊

Most roots are fuzzy. The fine hairs help absorb water more efficiently. The fuzz can get ripped off when we change the soil. So, we might not even know it was there.
