Once you’ve discovered you have root rot you need to cut off the dead mushy roots. You cut right above the rot where it’s firm again. Afterwards I always spray with 3% peroxide to kill any more bacteria that may be lingering. Add fresh soil and only water whenever your plant is about 50-75% dry all the way through to prevent rot coming back! Hope this helps! :)

いいね 1件You should be okay! What kind of plant is it???
いいね 1件Monstera !
いいね 1件Okayyy yess! Definitely make sure the soil is VERY chunky their roots love oxygen. Let that soil dry out like 75% before watering again!

2件のいいねDepends on if it was from dry rot or from over-watering
いいね 1件Maybe over watering 😅 I think the pot was too big or not aerated enough idkkk but pretty sure it was a water issue
0件のいいねYou can add a little hydrogen peroxide to your water when watering them to help your Monstera further develop new roots after cutting the rotted ones off. I did this recently for a plant that arrived with root rot and it started growing new roots within the week.
いいね 1件Awesome thanks ! So should I just wait til next watering and do that ?

be careful with this method. hydrogen peroxide sterilizes the soil, killing anything living in it, and a sterile environment isn’t a good long term home for any plant. the root systems work in harmony with fungi and bacteria in the soil. consider adding a mycorrizhal inoculant to boost your plant’s microbiome once it’s recovered and no longer in need of a sterile environment
2件のいいねRight. That’s why you should dilute it with the water, only having no more than 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 2 parts water. I just meant you can add a few drops of it to the water, not JUST peroxide. It’s naturally occurring in rain water and helps the roots absorb more oxygen. It’s a common solution for treating root rot. I only use it about once after a repot if I had to chop a lot of roots off from rot. And yeah, you can totally wait until your next watering. Don’t water it early after repotting, especially to reduce the risk of added shock from repotting. It’s not something to do repeatedly, but it’s good for killing any bacteria or extra rot still on your roots during and shortly after the repotting process.
