Hi! My polka dot plant was doing really well earlier this week and over the last few days it’s dropping and shriveling more and more. Could this be root rot? Planta said it was underwatered which I know isn’t the cause.

Does the pot have good drainage? I would check the roots and I’m pretty certain you would find root rot. That pot looks really deep and depending on your soil mixture it’s holding onto a lot of water. Don’t water on a fixed schedule, stick your finger or a chopstick in and check for moisture in the soil. Trim off any rotten roots and repot into a smaller container with a well draining mix. Good luck, don’t give up on her yet!

So after so much trial and error, I finally mastered this plant. The only way this plant really thrives is it in a humidity dome. Otherwise you tend to get those crispy leaves. Also repot it the pot is WAYYY too big. The pot should be 1-2 inches bigger than the roots.
