My prayer plant is starting to look at little sad. I think it may be because my pot isn’t draining enough? The soil is still moist a few days after the last water, and it has been hot where I am. It is the kind of pot with the drainage plate attached. Does anyone have any pointers for me? Very new to plant care
It wouldn’t hurt to repot it in a more well-draining pot, I’m not super fond of the pots with drainage plates attached because I feel like they don’t drain as well. Or it could just be that the yellow leaf is dying off, seeing as it appears to be an older leaf near the bottom. You can always just cut it off to save the plants energy and besides that, the rest of the plant looks pretty healthy to me :)
1 LikeAh, my worry was that it was a newer leaf that was dying off because it was smaller, how can you tell it is older?
0 Likes It could be newer if it has just recently sprouted but usually older leaves are near the bottom of the plant and can often be smaller because they sprouted when the plant itself was smaller. If you see new leaves sprouting and quickly turning yellow then that could definitely be a cause for concern but old leaves do typically die off eventually and is a normal part of the process :]
