Not sure why all of a sudden this plant I’ve had for 5+ years that’s been in the same planter its whole life thriving, is now turning yellow. Can someone please tell me what i need to do.

    Could be a lack of nutrients and/or sunlight changes. Have you been fertilizing it? Was it moved to a different location recently? Near AC?

      When i first purchased it, it came in a plastic cup of water, all i did was transfer it to a nicer glass cup with water. And since then thats what it’s been in for 5 years, I’ve never had it in fertilizer. Should i plant it in fertilizer now even though it’s never been in it?

      Yes the plant will die without fertilizer

      I agree with LeafyGreenhouse. Water alone doesn't provide enough nutrients so the plant needs fertilizer. Change the water and rinse the container every few months so it's clean. This looks like a bamboo plant, I recommend to keep it away from cold drafts / AC, use distilled or filtered water, and give it indirect bright light only. The yellow leaves won't turn green again so chop them off. Hope this helps! :)

    Mine did this as well not too long ago. I’ve fertilized once but I don’t know a good schedule for it yet. The light source played a part but ultimately, it was the lack of fertilization. I got mine in 2020 and didn’t think to fertilize until 2026. Shame on me but now I know better hahah 🤦🏾‍♂️😂
