I’m so sad - one of my favorite plants has been acting up lately. Not sure what the problem is. I will consult Dr. Planta but I am not always sure I get accurate diagnoses that way. Are these spider mites (in addition to the white specks im seeing tiny dark bugs crawling around)? Is it too much sun? The leaves feel weak and more papery than some of the healthier ones. I think the dirt smells a little more mildewy than usual and is noticeable when i sit near the plant. Watering (distilled) as recommended and the plant is a decent length away from the sunny window. Any pointers?

First off, I suspect your plant might have a fungus like black spot. That would require a Neem spray once a week for four weeks in a row. Be sure to spray all leaves top and bottom. That might be a good start; let’s see what others say. I just ordered a White Fusion through the mail and it was so beat up that it’s lost 3/4 of its leaves… so disappointing! Hope yours will recover shortly. They are definitely a beautiful plant. 😊💚🪴

Thank you for the advice! Such a pretty plant but I knew it would be a sensitive one. I do see some little bugs under the leaves so maybe its spider mites? Either way it sounds like neem oil is the way to go.

Mine was doing so well for about 4 months then suddenly started going downhill. The leaves curled and turned brown, despite accurate watering. I read online to put it in a plastic container and mist it daily (kind of creating a greenhouse effect). It's beginning to spurt new growth, but it's been a long and slow process.

Yeah I live in Colorado so the dry air probably isn’t helping. I tried putting it in a little dish with pebbles to help retain humidity.

Good luck! I've been reading up on it and they're sooooo finicky 😔

The white dots under the leaves are definitely spider mite eggs. There’s a video by the YouTube channel Heart Shaped Leaves that shows how to get rid of them with isopropyl alcohol
