It could be edema! If Iām right, youāll want to repot your plant in fresh, dry soil and make sure that your plant isnāt sitting in water for too long or the soil is staying wet for too long. Edema happens when the roots try to absorb more water than the plant can handle (often from overwatering, or a clash between humidity and room temp. Also a good idea to consider if thereās been a change in humidity for your plant) to the point that the plantās cells start bursting, making the leaves look clear. Sadly, the leaves wonāt recover, but if it isnāt too serious you can reverse it now before the damage gets worse. Let the plant dry out for a little bit. Skip a watering or two after repotting. Reduce the plant to its roots and make sure the roots are dry and not rotted when repotting. Iāll attach a photo of what my raindrop peperomia looked like when experiencing edema. The clear parts will likely start to turn brown., and if the leaves are curling thatās another sign that itās likely edema
2 LikesAnd DONāT cut off the affected leaves! Thatāll only worsen the edema process until the edema is treated. Wait until the edema improves before watering it again or cutting any leaves. Hope this helps!

1 LikeNo problem! Hope it improves. Edema if caught early enough is treatable, but severe cases arenāt reversible. As long as you treat it now and take a break from watering it, itāll hopefully come back within a few weeks. If it worsens within the week and spreads to more leaves, it might be a more severe case, or from the shock of repotting. I say give it a good 2 weeks minimum before you stress about it being severe after repotting. And if youāre worried about skipping watering it, I know it might sound scary, but the cells are literally bursting in the plant because itās absorbing the water too fast. A little drought might be exactly what it needs to avoid the roots affecting any other leaves.

My dieffenbachia is the SAME!! It was literally perfect and thriving and then all of a sudden it has super dry leaves, theyāre wilty and crispy at the same time. I repotted into a smaller pot and there is shockingly new growthā¦but itās still ugly lmao

After I downsized pots it seems to be doing better. This was from costa farms and the soil was like sawdust. I should just know by now to repot those eventually because itās not good soil for my home environment
1 LikeI thought of repotting it in a slightly bigger pot but if itās better to downsize Iāll try that. What type of soil are you using now?
