Is my monstera burning from too much sunlight or something else? What are these black spots on the two oldest leaves? The other leaves are great (last photo)! It appears pretty healthy otherwise…

    I hate to say it, but to me that looks more like a fungus than a sunburn… 😢

    It looks fungal. Check for root rot. Remove the rotting roots, if any, and disinfect with hydrogen peroxide. Treat with a commercial fungicide. Let the soil dry out more since fungus thrive on continuously wet soil. 🪴🍀

    Thanks everyone! Do you think it’s okay to cut off the spotted leaves and let it dry out fully before watering again?

      The issue with fungal infections is that they live in the soil - it’s unlikely that cutting off the spotted leaves will fix the problem! :(

      Noted, thank you for your help! I brought the monstera home and I plan to do a diluted hydrogen peroxide pour/dip and repot :)
