I had this old elephant plant-well past 20yrs, that developed edema the last few years of her life. I wanted to prop her before she died off so I found the healthiest stem I could and successfully got it rooted and then growing. Was careful to let dry between watering, but it’s tiny. Now I’m afraid this poor prop will also have edema forever, no stemming yet that looks pink and clean and some leaves are pocked. Can this baby ever outgrow her difficult infancy?
That looks like a Jade plant to me, not an elephant plant. They like the soil to really dry out between watering and well draining soil. I've got mine in a terracotta pot to help it dry out quicker. All the time there are green leaves, there is always hope. It looks healthy enough to me. You could always pinch off some leaves which will help it stem out.

Ah yes, I see now. They have very similar care needs. That's a real shame about the parent plant, she looked lovely. Fingers crossed for you with the prop, it's looking healthy enough so hopefully it'll be just fine.
