I recently got a croton and it’s already dropped two leaves! Any advice or ideas of what I could be doing wrong? It’s in a south facing window that is partially covered by my roof, and I am following plantas watering schedule. Any help would be appreciated!

In my experience, Planta suggests watering too much. Use your finger to test the soil. If it’s dry about 2 inches in, then you can water. I also think these need a decent amount of humidity. Could also be too much light, but I’m less certain about that.

Crotons like the soil to dry before watering again. It thrives in at least 8 hours of full sun per day, tropical temperatures and higher humidity.

I have had a couple of these in the past and I lost both to spider mites. I don’t know if they’re extra susceptible or if I was just getting them contaminated. But check closely for any webbing!

Watch watering too much! Use your own schedule that adjusts to how your plant is taking the soil, light, etc.- your environment is unique to every plant.
