This is my stepmoms heartleaf philodendron, it’s been growing in water for over 7 years and I just got into plants a few months ago. What should I do to save this plant? As you can see there’s 90% root rot with healthy roots at the bottom. This is the mother plant I get my cuttings from

I’m not sure they rotted. When you gently feel the roots are they mushy and when you smell them do the they stink like rot. I’m pretty sure if all the roots where that rotted the plant would be dead and definitely not that healthy. It is also hard to get root rot in plants that aren’t in soil. I don’t think the plant really needs to be saves but I could be wrong. Maybe a jar upgrade could help it grow a bit faster. Hope this helps!

What does the entire plant look like? Post a photo. The leaves shown don’t have yellow tips or anything indicating the roots are rotting, as Melody commented.
