help!! i have a small bird of paradise that lives in my home with indirect sunlight but yesterday, because it’s starting to get sunny, i decided to place it outside. today was a very hot day and it seems to have gotten sunburnt & shriveled up on the leaves. correct me if i’m wrong but i thought these plants thrived on full sunlight? the soil was very dry so i watered it but it still seems sad so i removed it from the balcony. where is the best place to keep the plant & what should i do?

Just because a plant type can live in full sun, doesn't mean that your individual plant will accept such a shock of environment change. Plus full sun does not mean full heat. On hot days, even full sun plants need misting to help cool off, or they cook like in a hot pan 😬 In extreme weather I like to bring all my plants in to avoid from burning, like what you just experienced. I hope this helps, try to baby it to recover. I hope she's able to come back 💜

They can only take full sun if they’re acclimated gradually to it

in future, bring them out on a cloudy day, or a string of cloudy/partly cloudy days before it gets to hot. then leave them out for the season. in addition to the gradual exposure, it’s important not to bring them in and out as it changes the conditions too drastically for a plant to thrive :)
