Does anyone have tips about sprays to keep cats away from plants? Iāve heard that I could put lemon juice into a spray bottle and dilute it- but I think that may damage some plants. Iāve used cat grass, and giving them a plant seemed to help but Iām hoping for a solid deterrent. Pls help
Hopefully someone will respond with a better solution than thisābut I use my momās tried and true āspray the cat not the plantā method. Best if your cats really only bother your plants when youāre home. Itās just water, the water I use for my plants. I hit the lever once not even a full spray, and donāt point it directly at them, just near them. They get the picture pretty quickly and if they do go near the plants again just shake the bottle or reach for it and theyāll leave. I donāt love it, but it is effectiveā¦ so if anyoneās got a plant focused alternative thatād be cool!

iāve seen people putting plastic forks in the dirt all around the plant so the cat gets too freaked out to get close/canāt get a good foothold to eat the leaves, but i think thatās probably better for leaves that donāt hang over too much
2 Likes Yeah I saw that one too- but my cats will just get the leaves. I also tried coffee grounds around the base of the plant but they just went for the leaves

If the lemon juice doesnāt work theyāve got sprays specifically made to deter animalsā¦ a good one is skeddader, thereās one specifically for cats. Works amazing.

I spray my cat! Sheās learned to leave my plants alone. I used a spray bottle from Walmart that shoots out a little jet stream of water. It doesnāt hurt her, but itās quick and it deters her

They have sprays that keep pets from chewing furniture. Itās very bitter and repulsive to them. Test it before spraying all over the plants.

I found that eucalyptus, lavender, peppermint, and rosemary work (depending on whether your cat likes strong scents or not) maybe vinegar dabbed near the plantš¤·āāļø
