I noticed my plant is starting to look sad. Feels a little soft and looks dimple-y. Any thoughts?

I think it's black rot if it is your plant is long gone now Sorry 😞

0 LikesYou should buy one with a side branch or at least leaf nodes that can produce side branches. You will have a better chance of survival with additional leaves to support the photosynthesis process and grow out the plant even if one section gets rot or fungus. The one leaf Hoya Kerrii plants are novelty plants which is why they are painted and sold during a holiday. The rot and other infections usually start with overwatering. The soil needs to completely dry out before watering again. The pot must have drain holes.
4 LikesThank you!! I was wondering if the one leaf was more for gifting than really keeping it alive. I’ll ask at the nursery. I’ve also learned a ton about watering and worked to not over water but I probably did at the start! Planta app has certainly helped.
0 LikesThese cuttings can’t survive. It’s not your fault. It’s a shame because the buyers think they have done something wrong.
0 LikesLooks like a fungal or bacterial infection. It’s a one leaf plant and this happens often.
1 LikeTry not to mix water with other plants or touch the plant with the cup you're watering it with and any yellow/white spots cut off
1 LikeThanks! Sad to lose it but will give another go!
0 LikesI just watched a short by Plants With Krystal in YT. She said it needs a node, otherwise they die. (Single heart)
2 LikesThose heart-shaped hoyas typically do not grow. When they are harvested they do not include what is necessary to produce growth. Occasionally one will grow but mostly they just sit and look cute for a while. They may develop some roots but they will not grow a new stem. Now if you harvest one yourself from a larger plant you can make sure that you get a growth node on the cutting.
2 LikesGood to know. Sad that the nursery sells this when it’s just gonna die.

It is very sad, and one of the biggest scams in the plant industry, I can agree with the comments that talk about the lack of growing nodes in the market. And this one plant is one of the most targeted because the capacity of the leaf to grow roots, stay alert people, don’t buy unless you see at least 2 set of leaf. 🙏
3 LikesSorry about the plant scam :( i hate that they try to turn these guys into zombie cuttings. It's truly unfair. The amount of plant abuse with paint and sparkles and glued plastic bits. All these instances grind my gears.
1 Likenot plant related but 1) is that a capybara and 2) where can i get it 😭😭😭😭
1 LikeIt is! I bought a pack of them on Amazon. Just look up mini capybara figurines! They are cute and I put them randomly on things.
