Hello! I'm still rather new to plantkeeping and have had luck keeping my multiple Pothos and Philodendron alive at least, but it seems like any time I try to branch out to different plants something goes wrong 😓 I had gotten a Coleus around a month ago and it's slowly been losing its color and leaves. The soil is still moist so it's not under watered, but the leaves that are dying are turning black and crunchy. I haven't used any fertilizer on any of my plants, and I bottom water them with tap water treated with fish tank conditioner (I read it's helpful for nutrients). Any suggestions on what I should do to save it?

Do you mean you haven’t watered it since you brought it home and it’s still wet? How far is it from the window. It will need some natural daylight to keeps its brilliant coloring

It's about 7 and a half feet away from the window, and I last watered it on Thursday. I water my plants once a week so it's had around 4 rounds of bottom watering since I've bought it

Coleus needs full direct sunlight to thrive and to keep its color. Dry leaves are either old and dying or under watered at some time. Low light can also cause leaves to drop. I recommend moving it outside or to a south window. Add a strong grow light running at least 12 hours a day, if needed. Only water when the leaves go slightly limp. Don’t water by a strict schedule. 🪴🍀

Okay great, thank you! I'll see how it does outside :)

It has to slowly acclimate to full sunlight to avoid burning. Check online for the process of moving houseplants into full sun.
