So I have three plants in my kitchen (silver pothos, heart leaf philodendron, and a tradescantia). They all sit on top of my cabinets which are directly above the stove. My issue is that they’re very sticky?! It’s not pests; they’ve been this way for a year+. I’ve tried cleaning the leaves with a wet cloth, putting the plants in the shower, and using dawn dish soap on the leaves. Nothing gets the stickiness off. It’s not the whole plant, either, just the top parts near the pot. Is it cooking oil in the air that’s making them sticky? Has anyone else experienced this?

    It’s probably cooking oil! My cabinets above my stove are slimy from the oil always.

    Cooking steam can leave oil and grease residue on everything around the stove. I recommend moving the plants. I use chemicals like a degreaser to break down the oils and grease while cleaning. These are too harsh for plants. I recommend moving the plants. 🪴🍀
