I bought a begonia maculata on clearance from Walmart. There were three plants. One has died. The other two have last all of their leaves and the very top of the stems are dead and black. Is there any hope? Should I give up? Or does anyone have any ideas for me?

Do you have a picture you can show? Begonia maculatas are DIVAS! So depending on how she looks from a pic I might be able to help 🫶🏽

I would pull her out of the pot and check her root system. You will need to be gentle because she’s already been through a tough time. After checking her root system maybe put her into a well draining peat-based mix. And keep her soil moist but not soggy. There’s a chance she could possibly bounce back. These plants are FINICKY (IME).

Of course! They love bright indirect light and humidity so if you have her indoors a humidifier helps. Keep away from direct light and drafts From your AC 🫶🏽 good luck 🍀
