I’ve basically given up on this guy. I repotted it a week or two ago in a pot that I made using pottery clay and pottery glaze. Had it fired correctly and everything. I have two other plants in pots that I made and fired, one is doing fine (pilea), the other is a golden pothos with a yellow leaf as of this week. Do you think the problem is something in the clay and/or glaze, or the plant(s)?

The problem may be the density of the soil and the drainage rate. It looks like root rot from sitting in water too long. I recommend removing the soil from the pot. Check for root rot which is mushy smelly roots and stagnant water at the bottom of the pot.

No root rot, no smell, no water at the bottom of the pot. Any other thoughts?

I agree with Sunny. That soil looks way too organic with very little grit to allow air to the roots. It’s overwatered because the soil can’t dry out.

Is there a drainage hole in the pot?

      I’d suggest adding some perlite.

I saw yellow, panicked a little and watered again maybe Monday, but the soil has dried out since then (after being reported and watered on Sunday)

I'm sorry but i don't think the plant is going to make it. You could try doing a wetstick propagation but i have never done that so i can't guide you with that. Sorry. Hopefully someone can help vou

I don’t expect it to, I was just hoping to troubleshoot for the future

Hi everyone, I checked and the soil at the bottom of the pot is dry, and there are drainage holes. I’ll add something to help with drainage.

I’m not sure what it could be. I would remove it from the pot and soil. Remove all the soil and rinse with hydrogen peroxide in case there is bacteria/fungal infection. Remove the leaves and put most of the nodes under water. It’s a last ditch effort. But, I have seen smaller pieces of pothos recover. Additionally, I would add diluted fertilizer, Superthrive and even root stimulator to give it a kick. The water will be a little cloudy. I would change the water in about a week. I would let it start to show a leaf emerge before going back to soil. I would use soil with more perlite and a different pot in case there are chemicals leaching out of the pot. You could put it in a smaller plastic pot to keep the soil isolated if you want to keep the ceramic pot. Good luck. 🪴🍀

it looks, to me, like both over and underwatering. i think it was watered, and because of the denseness of it, the soil stayed way to wet but was then allowed to dry out. the wrinkly stem and curly leaves makes it look dehydrated, and the yellow and black leaves looks like past overwatering. for future ref, as others have said, LOTS more drainage (perlite, coco chips, vermiculite, orchid bark, etc)! you can do a 1:1 mix of potting soil and any ammendment or mix of amendments. also, the size of the pot should be only 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball - having excess soil will retain moisture, often leading to root rot. good luck with your next attempts!!
