Hi there! I’m a new plant mom and I’m trying to figure out what’s causing the brown spots on 3 of my plants. Is it pests? Should I cut the affected stems? I acquired a bunch of plants and some had been outside but they weren’t brown when I got them. Any knowledge helps!(:
It looks like root rot or fungal issues to me, I’d pull out each plant and check the roots to make sure they aren’t squishy or brown or bad smelling, and change the soil to something more chunky and aerated

you should check roots for rot and then proceed to repot all your plants or get used to not watering them for 3-4 weeks at a time, your soil is suffocating and drowning the roots
