I got this Pilea about a month or so ago and it was fine for the first week or so but has been dropping a lot of leaves recently. They turn yellow then get these black marks on them. I water according to the app and when soil is dry and also added a grow light but would love any advice!

Since it’s a new plant have you checked the roots for rot and a mesh pod? Sometimes those are left on and I usually find them on declining plants. Also add a chunky mix like this for better root circulation and drainage. Approximately half soil half mix.

You can also remove the pups so those aren’t drowning out the main stem

I’ve definitely been scared to repot it but I’m not opposed. I don’t wanna get rid of the 2 big pups cause I like how big it looks but I can try cut back some of the smaller ones

This app is a over watering app for sure. Always stick with your fingers or a meter reader. I use my fingers and a meter to get precise readings. The black spots could be a fungi or a bug. 2 things I do, I use the app to scan and I get responses. And I use AI and describe exactly what I’m looking at and it’s usually on point.

It could be shock. plants need time to adjust to new environments. i would also say overwatering though. take the apps schedule as a suggestion- always test the soil before you water it.

It definitely looks needs more light. The grow light is not in the photo. Could it be too far away? Try moving it 2 feet closer to the window if the sun is not too intense. It looks like the leaves are reaching out for light. Be sure to fertilize each month or more frequently if the fertilizer is diluted. 🪴🍀

The grow light is right on it…didn’t put it in the first pic since you can’t see the plant well. It’s not as intense as this picture makes it seem though
