I want to know what bug this is and how I can get rid of it thank you. And the plant is a Chinese hibiscus.

Aphids, they LOVE hibiscus trees. Lady bugs are a great way to help. Otherwise blast them with a water hose and neem oil the crap out of it. I have four hibiscus and deal with this every year.

1 mi piaceI think yo can actually order live last bugs on Amazon and they’re very great for gardens because aphids are a turd to control
1 mi piaceThanks I will look into it
0 Mi piaceSeconding the lady bugs. My (5) hibiscus often get aphids and when I bought lady bugs I didn’t really deal with them for a couple years. They have since come back so I think it’s time for me to buy some more lady bugs too!
2 Mi piaceCame here to comment the same thing! And it’s a fun if you have kids activity to release them! (Even if you don’t have kids it’s still fun)

be careful purchasing ladybugs online. many species are invasive and you may end up causing harm to your local environment and potentially native ladybug species by introducing invasive ones. here in the u.s., the most commonly sold garden ladybug is the invasive asian ladybeetle. my house is infested with them since their populations have grown so much due to many people buying them as garden pest control. i also would suggest staying away from neem oil as many pests are immune to it from overuse, spraying the oil may cause more harm than good. i would recommend hosing the plant down to remove most of the aphids, then spraying the whole plant with an insecticidal soap like dr bronner’s castile soap to dissolve the bugs every day or every few days until they’re gone.
2 Mi piaceAphids…my recent stubborn pest! After drowning with the hose several times and going through 4 pretty large bottles of Neem oil with the aphids hanging on and laughing at me, I bought one of the products for dredging the soil focused on close proximity to trunks. After 2 wait and see days I can now say IT WORKED!!!!! Below is my plant this afternoon! Not an aphid one that I can see. Does anyone know how long before they will reinfect? This particular dredge product says only to use annually.
