Hi! I have mealy bugs for the first time I’ve got at least 4 plants effected :( is there any tips on how to get rid I’ve ordered some neem oil bug spray.

    Definitely quarantine the plants that are affected so it doesn’t get your whole collection. I had mealy bugs on my ruby rubber plant and ended up making my own spray with 70% isopropyl alcohol and water. About a 1:1 ratio and I cleaned every leaf, stem, literally everything!! Wipe it down, make sure you go from top to bottom. If your plant can handle it I would do a repot if you see them on the soil but otherwise this should help quite a bit!! Best of luck friend!

      Thank you so much! I believe mine also originated from a rubber plant I’ve already quoratined but I’ll probably do what you said with the mixture thanks!

      If you have any plants that are sensitive you could dilute with more water, I hope it works for you. They are literally the worst critters

    I would consider also changing out the soil just to be safe, I had mealy bugs a while ago and I soaked them in water with a little dish soap and a little peppermint Castile soap for 5 minutes, then wiped all the leaves off to be sure I got all the bugs. If you do soak the plant, don’t soak the roots, just the leaves and stems.

      Thank you! I will repot them all I haven’t repotted them In a few months so they should all be ok with it :)

    Spray them down with 70% alcohol, get in all the crevices.

      You'll need to treat it every week or two till you dont see any. They also go into the soil when its a bad infestation, so repotting can help after you finish treating. And systemic granules or the liquid (pet friendly) option from Sierra Naturals is a good longterm solution

    I have never had success with mealy bugs. Even if I treat, they come back. I just tossed a plant today where I saw a mealy bug. I had treated the plant thrice for bugs when it last has an infestation. I saw one today, and the plant went straight to the trash before it can infest the rest of my collection.

      I had issues with mealy until I researched their life cycle and figured out i was under treating. Their life cycle can be up to 3 months, so ya just gotta treat SSOooo much for awhile.

    If I love the plant that much, I might. Most of my plants I can rebuild, so I don't bother. Thankfully, I've only dealt with mealybugs a few times. But I am still a plant novice, sooooooo... 🤦🏽‍♀️😆
