Any Epiphyllum lovers out there? I inherited this large orchid cactus a few months ago and its leaves are very dehydrated. I’ve tried doing a soak with fertilizer, but didn’t want to let it linger as I’m afraid of root rot. This thing is massive, 4ft wide. I love orchid cacti and would be so sad if it doesn’t recover.

how long was it soaking? you may need to repot so that the roots can get some air and water.

I soaked it for about 45 min. I agree it needs to be repotted…just waiting for better weather, soon!

if it were my plant, i would aerate the soil thoroughly with a chopstick or skewer, add a bit of worm castings on top, and water thoroughly to blend the worm castings into the soil. then soak for an hour or two in a basin of water. 45 minutes probably wasn’t enough for the whole rootball to saturate
