Good morning all, I'm freaking out. I thought my maculata was losing leaves because I repotted and put two together. Now I'm pretty sure these little bugs are what are doing it. Can anybody tell me what they are and what I should do about it? Thank you so much in advance 😱

0 likes Ive never had them, so im not sure what them best options are. I do see several people mention using a mix of castile soap and water to give the plant a good spray down in the shower. Hopefully someone with experience chimes in. I generally use an insecticidal soap on all new plants i bring home and keep them quarentined for couple weeks. I spray the whole splant and top of soil. I have been lucky so far.
1 likeI treated mine with Captain Jacks every 3 days for about a month to interrupt the growth cycle. I recommend you look up the thrip life cycle for better understanding. I sprayed my entire collection (100+ plants) because I was recycling water for my plants back then. It worked the first time and I’ve LUCKILY never had them since
4 likes There are so many varieties. Do you use the dead bug one? That says for outdoor use. Or do you use the need oil one? I would really love your help with this. I have about 40 plants, but I am thrips on all of them I'm freaking out. My creeping Charlie is going to be a tough one with 1 million leaves on it all hanging a mile long. 😭
0 likesI used the Dead bug. I took them one by one into the bathtub and sprayed tops AND undersides and left them in the tub to dry. Cut off any warped leaves (they lay their eggs in the actual leaf tissue). With 40 plants, you can rotate 10 a day. You could do section by section, or you could do all the plants each time. It’ll be over before you know it. 🫶🏾
