Heya Plant people! My Polka Dot plant is having issues as the leaves are curling inward, the leaves feel off, fuzz along the base and browning of some kind. Any advice on how I can help Spot grow normally/become healthy?

Put it under glass, maybe — these like crazy high humidity, I believe. I have an adansonii that also demands extreme humidity & I’m having success hitting it with a literal steamer once or twice a week lol

Mine has grown fuzz along the base on the new growth. Not sure about the browning. The curling however, mine does this when it’s getting thirsty. Can you take a pic of the base?

My plant currently has pretty moist soil after being watered but here’s the base. It’s growing alongside a rubber plant

The fuzz is totally normal. It’s just what it does with new growth at the base. I’m not sure about the leaves. I’m not an expert, but when mine started growing a new baby at the bottom like this, the old plant died. Idk. I would try to give it some extra light. That may help.

What kind of soil do you have it in? I rescued mine from a Christmas planter and once I repotted it into a tropical soil blend (potting mix/coco coir/perlite) and put it near a grow light it started thriving. I don’t believe they need high humidity to do well, I live in a dry climate and my indoor humidity ranges from 20-30%, and I don’t mist mine. They appear to lose leaves more often than most plants. Planta even tells me to regularly prune and remove dead leaves, so I believe it is normal. The fuzz is also normal. The other issue could be light, is it getting direct sun? If so maybe it’s getting too warm. Here is a pic of mine.

Yours is beautiful. How often do you water it? I’m on my third and very determined to keep this one alive.

Thank you! I water it once a week. I wait til it’s pretty dry, I don’t water it as often as the app tells me to. I use miracle gro plant food mixed in water for fertilizer.

I have Spot in a basic soil mixture, I may replant em in the mixture you’re mentioning! Yes, my plant gets direct sun every morning but only for a couple hours if that.

What climate are you in? I’m in Colorado. If I don’t water mine every three days it has a tantrum and goes flat. It’s so dramatic.
